This years giant onion attempt has officially started!
I am growing the current world record strain “Ailsae” It’s a hybrid of the Kelsae and Ailsa Criag varieties.
Seeds were planted today.
Last year no artificial heat or light sources were used when propagating but this year I will be using some DIY equipment. Details to follow.

I am afraid, the giant onlion was not so giant this year. – Weighed in at a pathetic 815g!
Will be trying again next year.
